Hyundai Veloster N spotted lapping the Nurburgring

The sport variant of the Hyundai Veloster was spotted doing laps around the Nurburgring, Veloster N. ‘N’ is the Korean manufacturer’s in-house tuner and the ‘N’ badge is worn by Hyundai’s high performance cars.

The spotted car packs superior hardware compared to the standard Veloster and qualifies for the title of a ‘sports coupe’. The test mule wears a strong camouflage which keeps its new styling and looks under the wraps. The new vehicle is expected to be based on a new platform which will allow the manufacturers to make the car lighter and stiffer.

The side profile reveals large alloy wheels and sticky low profile tyres. Behind the alloys are the chunky brake callipers and evidently larger brake rotors hinting at manufacturer’s priority to take good care of stopping responsibilities.

The rear of the car is equipped with a well-hid spoiler enhancing the sportiness of the Veloster. A twin exhaust pipe and a diffuser shout out Veloster N’s intentions.

The power plant is expected to be the same as that of the Veloster although the 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine in the Veloster N is expected to churn out 20-30bhp more than the standard state of tune.

In the recent past, the Hyundai Veloster coupe was spotted testing on the streets of California and a soon after, the Veloster N was seen wearing heavy camouflage. Hyundai has not revealed any details of the car, however, the repeated instances of spotting the car suggest that launch of the new Coupe and the Sports Coupe is around the car.

The Veloster N is expected to debut next year in 2018 Geneva or Paris Motor Show. Post it’s unveiling, the Veloster N will compete against the Honda Civic Type-R, Volkswagen Golf GTI and Ford Focus ST.
