Workouts are broken up into body weight, gym, kettle bell and ABs categories so you can use the app no matter where you are. While the app and the first workout category is free, you will have to pay to upgrade your workouts. This is a fun app if you’re looking to get fit over the summer.

2. IF YOUR FRIEND NEEDS LOOKING AFTER

Online pet-sitting community Pawshake offers local, trust and vetted animal lovers who can pet-sit at a moment’s notice whether for a few hours or a few weeks. The app allows pet owners to upload and share photos of their furry friend and to keep in touch with the petsitter while they’re away.

3. WHEN YOU NEED TO PLAN A BEACH DAY

Using state-of-the-art technology to predict the weather at your exact location, theDark Sky app acts as your own personal weather channel. It captures everything from wind speed, humidity, visibility and notifications when you’re close to the path of a storm.

4. FOR WHEN YOU’RE ORGANISING YOUR GETAWAY

Planning a summer holiday and need everything organised? TripIt helps to create an itinerary by forwarding all your hotel, airline and holiday confirmation emails to their app. You can access your bookings and schedule online and offline, get directions to your destinations and synch plans with your Google Calendar or Outlook.

5. TO SAVE YOUR SKIN

Want to relax in the sun but don’t want to scorch your skin? The Wolfram Sun Exposure Reference app is a must-have when you’re at the beach this summer. It measures how long your skin can stay in the sun without burning, based on your skin type, where you are and the SPF rating you’re using.

6. FOR THE BACK TO SCHOOL COUNTDOWN

If you’re wanting to track how much longer you have before the kids go back to school, this app does just that. The Back to School Countdown app help you to share your countdown on Twitter and Facebook and create custom alerts,

We all know how standard a barbecue is during the summer holidays. The tongs comes out, the beers start flowing and you spend all day out in the sun cooking the snags. The Weber Grills app features recipes for the perfect barbecue spread. It also includes tips and ingredients for marinades and sauces.
