Jet Airways CEO Cramer Ball Quits, To Join Alitalia

Jet Airways chief executive officer Cramer Ball has resigned and the airline’s whole-time director Gaurang Shetty will work as acting CEO in his place, Jet Airways announced on Thursday.

Ball’s resignation will be effective from February 29 next year, it said. Jet Airways had appointed Ball as its CEO in May last year.

Loss-making Italian airline Alitalia said on Thursday it had appointed aviation industry Cramer Ball as its new chief executive. Ball is expected to take up his new role in early March.

“Cramer has, during his tenure, made a significant contribution in the journey to turn around Jet Airways. The company recorded two consecutive profitable quarters after a gap of eight years,” Jet Airways Chairman Naresh Goyal said in release.

“I am honoured to have been able to play a part in the turnaround of Jet Airways, as it moves towards long-term sustainable profitability… I am pleased with the progress that has been made,” Ball said on his resignation.
