THIS gadget is smaller than a business card and as light as two packs of gum but holds more than 250 hours of video, 125,000 songs, or 100,000 photos. The SSD T1, named for the solid state drive inside, feels unrealistic but plug it into a USB 3.0 port and it will transfer data at speeds of up to 450MB/s, moving substantial video files with unexpected speed. The 7.1mm-thin device can also be password-protected and is available in a 1TB capacity. Users must carry its USB 3.0 Micro cord and install software to access files, but this speedy, stylish storage impresses.

This 500GB external hard drive is so slim they put the measurement in the name. With a 7mm-thick profile and an industrial design, it would be easy to think someone has removed its outer layer. It comes with a braided USB 3.0 cable to avoid twists and, as the thinnest portable drive in the Seagate range, its small enough to fit in a hip pocket.
